Crisis Averted! The Shidduch Crisis Has Been Narrowly Averted

The Rosh Yeshiva Rav Wachtfogel Shlita is a man of action. When he feels strongly about something, he doesn’t just sit on his “Laurels”; he tries to fix the problem.

One middah of the Rosh Yeshiva which stands out, is the tremendous empathy he has for brokenhearted people who come to him in tears. He is well known for going out of his way to take care of them. Be they yesomim, almanos, aniyim, or anyone else.

One demographic coming to him for chizuk has unfortunately exploded in size over the past few years. More and more older bachelorettes have been turning to him for support. These single women are special individuals who to no fault of their own have not yet been zoche to find their zivug. They lead productive, fulfilling lives, and on the surface are happy. And the truth is that they are happy. But deep inside they have a painful emptiness. A deep longing to establish a family with a life-long partner at their side.

In the Rosh Yeshiva they find someone who understands them. Someone who truly feels their pain. So they turn to him with their tears and return with a smile after he allays their fears. They recognize that such a great and busy man has them on his mind and in his tefillos, and that alone offers no small measure of support. And that is why they keep coming back.

It therefore came as no surprise when the Rosh Yeshiva spearheaded a bold movement to radically change the system in a way that will prevent this great tzara from plaguing our community. A brilliant plan to successfully close the age gap that he identified as being the main cause of this issue. This plan received much publicity, and we were all eagerly awaiting its implementation. And then - pin drop silence. It's as if the plan never existed. As if someone censored its existence. As if it was discovered to be such an elementary mistake to be an embarrassment for whoever supported it. Such a mistake that it demonstrates a total lack of discernment, judgment, wisdom, perception, and responsibility on the part of those behind it.

We were intrigued. What could this be? What fatal flaw can possibly have been found with such a detailed, calculated plan?

Stay tuned for the full report.
