Keren Hatorah Haolami

 Keren Olam Hatorah is a fund that provides money to all yeshivos and kollelim in Eretz Yisrael. Adirei Hatorah is a similar fund which provides money to one yeshiva in Lakewood. We have received credible reports - and this may be the subject of a later installment in our investigative journalist's series (see previous post) - that plans are underway to change this. There will instead be one massive fund for all of international Torah infrastructure, with a complex, nuanced system of allotment of funds. It will be called Keren Hatorah Haolami. The plan is still in its infancy stages and will not yet be in place this year.

The conversation continues in the comments. Do you feel this is a good idea? What is the best system of fund allocations? What should be the requirements for an institution to qualify? What is currently the answer to all this and more in the Israeli Keren Olam Hatorah?

    Right. Sure. So some member of the ******** family can show messiras nefesh by volunteering his services to lead it, and his children and einiklach will inherit the job, and Yeshivos will still have to collect money.

    This mahalach is ridiculous, dangerous, and pointless.

    What if Rabeinu Yitzchak Elchonon wants to join? What if a any Yeshiva high school? Keren olam hatorah in EY is both kollel and yeshivos

    Will there be allottments based on GDP and how much has been given from each country? so more money will be allocated to USA yeshivas from American Gvirim and surplus to EY? Who gains who loses?

    What is this accomplishing? That no new Yeshivos can open up without central vaad approval? Aha now we understand. If thats the case I would only donate to non vaad yeshivos.

A recent major example of Lakewood leadership messing things up yet again, based on what we have personally verified with numerous Rabbanim - including Rabbi Forcheimer - is that whatever the famous tumultmacher, Chaim Tzvi Gorelick (to quote Rabbi Forcheimer "troublemaker") says, R' Malkiel accepts as to quote Rabbi Forcheimer "Torah Misinai". UPDATED: Laskin Kehuna - A Year And A Half Later

Below are the two letters that have recently been published regarding the Laskin kehuna question. (The supporting letter, although dated a few months ago, was first authorized for release in response to the opposing proclamation. Either way, the content is what matters in this case.) The question is how to square the two. While throughout history, we always find poskim arguing vehemently with each other, and we sometimes find some poskim speaking out strongly against a minor Rav; we do not find that many names (albeit some of them inconsequential, and only there add signatures,) should sign against a major Beis Din (which is mesader an average of 3 gittin a week,) with big poskim on the Beis Din and so many major poskim supporting the psak and the Beis Din.
